Up until now in this series of articles, I’ve been discussing existing releases with winemaker, Zach Long. For our final Girard Mountain Series wine, we look to the future. The Girard Spring Mountain Cab is the 2009 vintage. That means it won’t even be bottled until 2011 and released in 2012. That’s a long way off, but from the initial tastes, I think we have some great wine to look forward to.
The vineyard that produces the fruit for this wine is on a rugged hillside with picturesque views overlooking the Napa Valley. It’s not a huge vineyard so we’re expecting to produce about 200 cases of this wine, which isn’t a lot.
