Girard’s Mountain Cabernet Sauvignons: Mt. Veeder

by Eric Hwang on January 8, 2010

20094003This is the first of a series of 4 videos with Girard Winemaker, Zach Long. I figured that if I’m trying to sort out the differences with the various Mountain Cabernet Sauvignons that Girard produces, then perhaps other people might appreciate knowing what I’ve discovered about these great Napa Cabs. What I found is the differences in terrior shows in each of the different AVAs and that Zach is capturing the essence of those characteristics through the winemaking process. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be presenting a video about each of the 4 current and future Girard Mountain Cabs . These are the AVAs I’ll be covering:

Tambor Vineyard, Mt. Veeder
Schramsberg Vineyard, Diamond Mountain
Probst Vineyard, Atlas Peak
Gartner Vineyard, Spring Mountain

This week, Zach talks about the Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder located here. The 2006 vintage is currently sold-out but the 2007 will soon be released.
